Scott Cain, volunteer of the year
Scott Cain handled a lawsuit for oil investors before a Johnson County, Texas jury. The result was just under one million dollars. Cain represented gas well investors who entrusted the gas well operator to pursue a prior lawsuit against a cement company. The cement company had cemented in the well during a process known as a suicide squeeze. The operator settled the underlying case for $600,000.00, but reported to the investors that the settlement was only $407,000.00. The jury awarded $192,000.00 along with attorneys fees and punitive damages. Scott Cain told Lowell Brown, reporter for the Cleburne Times-Review, “We had a great jury.”
